DVDP travels to veterinary hospitals with our staff and equipment. Because last-minute cancellations create a unique problem for our practice, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your appointment.

A separate invoice will be sent for the deposit. It must be paid at least 10 business days before your procedure. If your appointment is scheduled fewer than 10 business days in advance, the deposit is due when the appointment is scheduled.

If you need to reschedule after paying the deposit, the deposit can be transferred when at least three business days’ notice is provided. The $200 deposit is applied to your final procedure balance.

Two documents must be signed and returned before surgery. They will be emailed to you no later than the Monday before your pet’s procedure:

• Treatment and Surgery Form: Please complete this form carefully because it contains important information about you and your pet.
• Estimate for Services: Review and sign the estimate sent to your email.

Your pet may have their regular meals the night before the procedure. Food can remain available until midnight.

After midnight, remove all food and do not give treats or chews. Your pet may continue to have water until the appointment.

• Give your pet their regularly scheduled morning medication. If needed, use only a small amount of cream cheese or peanut butter to administer pills.
• Walk your pet before arriving. Nervous patients may not urinate or defecate while at the hospital.
• If your pet has prescribed anxiety medication, such as trazodone, gabapentin or alprazolam, we strongly recommend giving it as directed on the morning of the procedure.
• Record all medications given on your pet’s procedure check-in form.

Your pet will stay with us for the day. You will receive a text when we are ready to begin and another when your pet is in recovery. The doctor will then call to review the procedure.

Your remaining balance must be paid before pickup. DVDP will send a separate invoice; the host veterinary hospital cannot accept payment for DVDP’s services.

Your pet will receive discharge instructions explaining what was completed and what you may notice during recovery.

Staying home with your pet the day after surgery is rarely required, but you should do whatever makes you and your pet feel most comfortable.

We will contact you by email the following day to make sure recovery is going as planned. We will follow up again approximately one week later.
